Due to intensive simulator usage for training purposes, some elements might naturally start malfunctioning after a certain time. SimHelp engineers shared their experience in changing a hydraulic pump’s coupling.
The engineers noticed that the hydraulic pump had no pressure in it – when touched, the pump was not vibrating like other pumps, even though the pump motor was working.
It is possible to indicate a cause of the problem by inspecting a small window located on the Bell Housing. It is not necessary to dismantle the whole hydraulic pump system into parts first.
The problem was caused by one of the couplings. It was severely damaged and caused the destruction of the hydraulic pump. Engineers removed the pump drain hoses and the pump to be able to remove the damaged coupling.
The damaged coupling led to malfunctioning of the hydraulic pump.
You can compare the damaged and the properly functioning coupling in the photos above.
This process is slightly complicated due to heavy components, so it requires decent preparation for replacement to provide effective maintenance and to ensure high quality.
