It seems that engineers are quite brave people, so discussing their fears each month would be a total neglect of this statement. Due to this, this time, I decided to try and find out why was it worth of becoming an engineer after all.
1. Life just keeps throwing new experiences at you all the time…
There is no better feeling than saying “NO!” to your daily routine. Engineers admit that they have to say “NO!” quite a lot. Full Flight Simulator is like a mysterious wardrobe. You might never know when and what will it decide to “showoff”. We have already mentioned in our previous articles that there will always be a first timer for some specific malfunction of your beloved flying machine. And that is true! And you will always have to deal with it like a real man! It would be a great thing if there was a book that would answer all of your questions about each and every problem related with FFS device. However, it is not the case. Due to this, you have to power up your imagination, concentrate on keeping your hands steady and get to work.
Yes…you get technology quite a lot as FFS engineer. Wires, various microchips and gadgets are surrounding you all the time. And what they combine together is even more fascinating – a Full Flight Simulator! Oh my god, process this with your brains: a flying machine ON THE GROUND. What else can be as awesome as this?! I know, I know…it seems ordinary to you after spending over 20 years in this field. But believe me, it could work like a great pick up line for a girl at the bar. “Hey, I am engineer. I work with technology. Look at my screwdriver” might sound dull and provoke negative emotions, but if you put it in a bit different way, like, for example, “Hey, gorgeous! Want to take a ride on my private aircraft?” will definitely work like a lady magnet. Great success!
3. Sleepless nights
It is true: good night sleep is a great thing. However, you won’t get much of it as a FFS engineer. Night shifts can be a real pain in the lower part of your back. There is always something to fix, something to install… Just work, work and work… It may sound horrible. BUT, if you would relate to the previous part, night shift is a great time for your promises, which you might have made to pretty ladies, to come true. Romantic flight at night over graphically generated city, which is drowning in graphically generated lights. You might start enjoying your “sleepless nights” after all, if you know what I am talking about…
Well, that is it for this time. I hope that with the help of this article your daily life as a Full Flight Simulator engineer will become even brighter than it was before.
